Allinge - Popular for more than 3000 years
Soft sand and towering cliffs
Storløkke Holiday Park and Æblehaven are located in Allinge on northern Bornholm. Allinge was the first destination when Bornholm's tourism began in the early 1900s. The beaches at Allinge are not Bornholm's largest, but probably some of the coziest. The distinctive and beautiful combination of sandy beach and towering cliffs is probably one of the reasons why Allinge has been one of Bornholm's most sought-after holiday resorts for over 100 years - in fact, for several thousand years, because the many petroglyphs at Storløkke and Æblehaven show that Allinge was also popular in the Stone Age.
Below Storløkke Holiday Park and Æblehaven is Næs Badestrand (beach), where there is beach fun for the whole family. After a swim, you can continue into Allinge, where shops, cafes, restaurants and yachtsmen create a wonderful harbor atmosphere. In 2021, the port of Allinge was named Denmark's most beautiful harbor.
Northern Europe's largest castle ruin
Just outside Allinge is Northern Europe's largest castle: Hammerhus, which was an impregnable fortress in the troubled Denmark of the Middle Ages. Look forward to exciting stories about the dramatic medieval life - for example, hear about how the king's daughter Leonora Christine escaped from her dungeon on a cold winter's day. - And it is not just Hammershus that is a great experience. The views at Hammershus are also holiday experiences that you will remember with a smile on your face for many years.
Krølle Bølle and the flying saucers
Allinge and North Bornholm are also home to Bornholm's legendary figure - the little troll cub "Krølle Bølle". If you have children with you on holiday, they will love to read stories about Krølle Bølle and his adventurous experiences. Whether it is Krølle Bølle that is at stake or not is impossible to say, but in the book "The Mysterious Denmark" there are many stories of mysterious luminous objects moving at high speed across the sky on northern Bornholm. For example, a German tourist has seen a saucer-shaped craft fly out from Hammerknuden through a large opening. Shortly afterwards, several yachtsmen reported seeing a similar vessel fly up from the sea at Hammerknuden and continue vertically into the sky until they lost sight of it .
Exciting boat trip from Hammerhavnen
From Hammerhavnen below Hammershus, it is not spaceships, but small cozy boats that take you on a trip along the coast. When you pass below the old castle ruins of Hammershus, you will vividly imagine that the castle was an impregnable fortress in the troubled Denmark of the Middle Ages. The experiences will be spiced up by stories from your boatman - and that certainly does not make the experiences any less exciting. Back on land, you can enjoy the beautiful views - for example at the Opal Lake, where you can also try Denmark's longest cable car.
Technical Collection... Can it get any more boring?
The Technical Collection sounds like dust and boring experiences... but this does not apply to Bornholms Tekniske Samling, because here the whole family will have a good laugh and fun experiences when you put on the pilot equipment and sit down in a Draken fighter plane, which looked after Bornholm during the Cold War.
