400 meters from Æblehaven, you will find the beach and the old coastal path. Bring the children for a walk along the coast to the wonderful sandy beach Næs. The area around Æblehaven is, to many locals and tourists alike, the ”real” Bornholm: White sandy beaches, and tall rocks in beautiful unity.
Allinge’s old town is right by Æblehaven
From the sandy beach Næs, you can continue along the winding streets of the old part of Allinge. Enjoy the handsome old timber framed buildings, as the smell of smokes herring welcomes you. From the smokehouse, the path continues into the centre of Allinge, with its rich commercial life, cafes, sailboats, and cries from the seagulls. If you continue out of Allinge, you will reach the famous castle ruin, Hammershus, ready to take you on medieval adventures.

Arrival days
There are no fixed changeover days in Æblehaven, and you are therefore free to choose the arrival and departure day. It allows you to design your holiday exactly as you wish, just as you can choose to travel on days where the ferry is cheapest. The cheapest ferry days are usually Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Accessibility
The holiday homes in Æblehaven are split over either 1 or 2 levels. The holiday homes on one level are suitable for wheelchair users, for example, the doors are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair and there are no steps inside the holiday home. The bathroom is large enough to accommodate a wheelchair. Please inform us if you are travelling with a wheelchair and we will do our best to find you a suitable holiday home.
Baby package
You can rent a baby package consisting of: High chair and crib. If you wish to rent a baby package, you can add it to your reservation when booking your stay.
Bus to Æblehaven
If you wish to take to bus to Æblehaven, the bus stop is approximately 350 meters away from Æblehaven. The schedule for all bus routes on Bornholm can be found here: bat.dk.
Cleaning
We'll make sure to clean your holiday home on arrival/departure. Cleaning is always included in your rental price, and we will not send you any additional invoices for this after your holiday. On your departure, we simply ask you to ensure that the furniture is in its place, the dishes are cleaned/dishwasher is emptied, and any waste has been placed in the correct bins..
Duvets and bed linen
The house is equipped with duvets and pillows. You need to bring your own bed linen and towels unless you rent a linen package from us. The linen package includes sheets, pillowcases, and one large and one small towel. If you wish to rent a linen package, you can add it to your booking when reserving your stay.
Hypoallergenic holiday homes
All holiday homes in Æblehaven are non-smoking. If you have a pet allergy, you can choose to stay in one of the pet-free holiday homes. Please inform us of your allergy when making your reservation, and we will book you into one of the hypoallergenic holiday homes. None of our pillows or duvets are stuffed with down, so an allergy to down will not be a problem.
Groceries
In Allinge, just 800 meters from Æblehaven, you will find grocery stores such as Netto and SuperBrugsen.
Internet
There is free wireless internet in all holiday homes at Æblehaven. The signal strength may vary depending on the number of simultaneous users. If you need the internet connection for work-related purposes, we recommend bringing your own mobile broadband. If the network does not work optimally, this does not provide grounds for financial compensation.
Kitchenware
The houses have well-equipped kitchens - including tableware and utensils. You therefore do not need to bring any of your own.
Keys
We’ll send you a separate email a few days before your arrival with information about how to get the key to your holiday home. It’s a simple process – and no problem if you arrive late in the evening.
Parking
You can enjoy free parking at Æblehaven, in Æblehaven’s private parking area.
Iron and ironing board
You can borrow an iron and an ironing board in the reception, free of charge, of course.
Pets
Pets are allowed in selected houses in Æblehaven. If you are bringing your pet, please add this when booking your stay. Please note that there is an additional cleaning fee when bringing pets. Swimming pool
As a guest at Æblehaven, you can use the beautiful swimming pool with accompanying children's pool free of charge.
In 2026, the pool is open from 15 May to 30 September and heated from 1 June to 31 August.
Tea towels, toilet paper and more
Upon your arrival, you will find a dishtowel, dishcloth, and a start-up inventory of toilet paper and kitchen towels, in your holiday apartment. Should you require extra, we ask that you bring, or purchase, this yourself.

Æblehaven is located in Allinge-Sandvig on Northern Bornholm. Allinge-Sandvig was the original destination, when tourism first began on Bornholm in the beginning of the 1900s. The unique and beautiful combination of sandy beaches and tall rocks was probably the reason why the Danish, as well as the Germans, flocked to Allinge-Sandvig one hundred years ago.
The largest castle ruin in Northern Europe is in Allinge-Sandvig
Just outside Allinge-Sandvig, you will find Hammerknuden and the largest castle ruin in Northern Europe, Hammershus. Visit the interesting fortress, and listen to the entertaining stories. Did you know that, back in medieval times, you would have to pay the fee for the exequtioner yourself, if you were to have your head cut off? – And he always demanded to be paid upfront!
The most beautiful hike in Denmark
Hammershus is located on the rock formation Hammerknuden. The hike around Hammerknuden has been named as the most beautiful hike in Denmark. Look forward to magnificent panoramic views in the beautiful terrain. How about trying Denmark’s longest zipline across Opalsøen? You will throw yourself off the tall cliffs, and speed down towards the water of the lake, where you will finally brake and slowly glide down on the ground. A fantastic experience, which you will remember for years to come.

Around Allinge-Sandvig, you will find many of the island’s attractions, which will help make your holiday unforgettable. Allinge, and Northern Bornholm, is home to the famous character ”Krølle Bølle”, a baby troll. If you are travelling with children, they will love the stories of Krølle Bølle and his adventures.

UFO's or Krølle Bølle?
We cannot say whether it is just Krølle Bølle causing trouble, but in the book ”Det mystiske Danmark” (Mysterious Denmark), there are many tales of mysterious glowing objects, moving across the sky at high speeds around Northern Bornholm. For example, a German tourist spotted a saucer-shaped object flying out of Hammerknuden, through a large opening, which turned out to be part of the rocks. Shortly hereafter, several sailors reportedly saw the same object, flying out of the sea by Hammerknuden, and continue vertically up into the sky, until they lost sight of it. In 2017, several people, independently of each other, saw a mysterious pink object, flying across the water by Allinge.
Experience Hammershus from the waterside
From Hammerhavnen, just north of Allinge, you can take a boat ride out along the coast. Seen from the waterside, the rocky coastline appears even more dramatic. As you pass below the old castle Hammershus, you will be able to imagine why it was an impenetrable fortress in medieval times. The views are accompanied by the tales from your boatman – which in no way lessens the overall experience.
Music at Gæstgivergården
In Allinge, you will find the music venue Gæstgivergården. During the summer, an impressive line-up of the most popular recording artists in Denmark play intimate gigs here. In 2019, the programme boasts names such as Laid Back, Hjalmar, Mads Langer, Poul Krebs, Minds of 99, Alphabeat, Peter Sommer, Pernille Rosendahl and Folkeklubben.

Bicycle holiday
Bornholm has a very well designed web of bicycle lanes. 100 meters from Æblehaven, you will encounter the first one. The lanes will take you along smaller roads, where cars are the exception, and beautiful nature the rule.
Fields of grain
Try going inland on a summer’s day, and experience the yellow fields of grain. The journey might be uphill, but you will reap the rewards on your way home, when you can freewheel downhill, and enjoy the views of the sea and the town of Allinge.
You can also follow the bicycle lanes up the coast. Make a stop at one of the nature stops, feel the calm and quiet. Enjoy the beautiful view. If you are not bringing your own bicycle, you can hire a bicycle at Æblehaven.
Golf - 4 beautiful golf courses
Not just the nature on Bornholm is beautiful and different. The sunshine island also boasts four golf courses, with experiences unlike others. The courses are beautifully situated between hills, rocks, woods, streams, and lakes, with challenges for all handicaps. Rø Golf Course has received praise from several different international golf magazines. Rø Golf Course is located just 10 kilometres from Æblehaven.

With its varied coastline, Bornholm is an Eldorado for anglers all year round. From the coast, there are excellent opportunities for catching sea trout. If you want to try fishing from a boat, you will have excellent chances of catching both salmon and cod.

The chances of getting a bite in the sea and lakes on Bornholm are quite high, so remember to set the table, ready for the catch of the day.

Coastal path
400 meters from Æblehaven, you can get on the old coastal path. If you follow the path south, you will experience he beautiful combination of white sand and tall rocks. On a warm summer day, it is a glorious experience, but on a windy spring or fall evening, it may be even more extraordinary. The waves foam wildly around the rocks, the wind howls. These coasts have witnessed many dramatic shipwrecks. Storms caused most of the shipwrecks, but sometimes, the locals played a hand in them as well. In the old days, a wreckage from a ship could be a substantial form of income, and sometimes, it could be hard not to send out false signals to the ships, causing them to be grounded.
Just 3.5 kilometres from Æblehaven, you will find Hammerknuden. Here, you can experience magnificent views, beautiful natural surroundings, and Hammershus, the largest castle ruin in Northern Europe. With its location high up on Hammerknuden, with the steep cliffs down to the sea, it does not take much to imagine the power held by the residents of Hammershus in the Middle Ages. For centuries, Hammershus was the centre of power on Bornholm. The executioner also lived at Hammershus, if you were to have your head cut off, you would have to pay the fee for the executioner yourself! – And he always demanded to be paid upfront!
New theories indicate that Hammershus was originally built as a base for the crusades in the Baltic region. The Knights Templar were among the warriors in these crusades. This theory has brought substance to the theories that Bornholm is the hiding place of immense Templar treasure. Come and experience thrilling medieval adventures!
In the beginning of the 1900s, quarrying was an important industry on Bornholm, and large amounts of beautiful Bornholm granite was exported. - The elephants at the old Carlsberg building in Copenhagen have been crafted from Bornholm granite. The quarrying has almost ceased now, but in the landscape around Hammerknuden, you can easily see the results. Almost all of the old quarries have been transformed into beautiful lakes, with a rich, and impressive, animal and plant life. Hammersøen (Hammer Lake) is one of these lakes.
The little troll, Krølle Bølle, is a character in many of the old local tales. He is thought to reside in Langebjerget at Hammerknuden. The stories of Krølle Bølle will grab the attention of any child. Charming and entertaining tales that can be told, and listened to, again, and again.
The old part of Allinge
If you walk to the beach in front of Æblehaven, and go north (left), you will arrive in the old part of Allinge, with its charming timber framed houses, and beautiful hollyhocks. As you walk through the old streets, enjoying the quiet and the houses, you will slowly be welcomed by the smell of smoked herring. On the harbour in Allinge, you will find two of the best smokehouses on Bornholm, providing you with ample opportunity to sample the local delicacy, smoked herring.
